Here I am, sitting at the same table in café where we used to,
Hand in hand we talked about our days,
And about our future together.
If we were having coffee here today,
I would have told you how much I loved you,
And what you mean to me.
But you chose to leave me alone and walk away,
You chose to hide the truth behind the lies,
And break my heart over and over again.
I know you will move on,
And I would too.
But you will never find love like mine.
If we were having coffee today,
I would have shared my little secret with you.
Which you will now never come to know.
You will never know about the pain I am in
You will never know what true love is
And you will never know what you lost.
I am holding our memories close to my heart,
And will never forgive your lies.
And I will miss you with every breath that I take.
This is a work of fiction and has no relation to my personal life. I am taking part in the Write Tribe Festival of Words and this is my seventh post. I am glad that I accepted this challenge and got to read so many great posts.Â
Beautifully expressed. Betrayal and lies are too painful. Excellent take on the prompt.
Thank Vasantha 🙂
One who leaves was never meant to stay..so it is always better to let one go..never cry for someone who left you. Good poem.
Agree with you 🙂
Beautifully expressed. Don’t you think that cafes must have seen most patch ups and break ups? SO much can happen over a coffee.
Congrats on completing the fest. It was a fun ride with you all. 🙂
It was a fun ride 🙂 Congratulations to you too 🙂
Such a sad story so beautifully written. It’s hard to deal with the betrayal and the lies and with missing and loving a person who probably doesn’t deserve it.
Thanks Alice 🙂
Sad tale, Anchal. You have expressed the emotions well in the poem. I hope she finds strength to move on. Well written.
Congrats on completing the challenge. 🙂
Thanks Vinitha. Congratulations to you too. This was fun 🙂

Love and lies whenever co-exist, they scar lives forever!! Its amazing that your take nd my take on the prompt is so similar 🙂 loved reading this 🙂
This is really ravishing story having bodacious words collection, keep it up and move forward.
What a wonderfully expressed poem, sometimes it can be hard looking back once something so special has ended.
Beautiful poem from someone that’s experienced heartbreak. The first stages are hard until you can move on and find someone far better.
Lovely poem beautifully expressed. Hard feelings expressed though. Happy life is my wise for you
This is such a powerful poem. You wrote this so well.
You are a beautiful writer. Heartbreak is my favorite genre in poems 🙂
Very well written! I’m glad it’s not based on your personal life though because it sounds so heartbreaking.
What a very heartfelt poem. At first I thought it was based on your own experience. Glad its not. The words are expressive and it really attacks the emotion of the reader.
This sounds like a great writing challenge. It’s a good read and so nicely written. Good poem! Keep it up.
Great poem. I broke up with a boy during college, I wanted to focus on my studies. We’ve been married 16 years now.
This was so beautifully written. I could feel your pain as I was reading it. So many people have gone through something like this and a work of art like this could really help them.
This is very beautiful and bitter sweet. Your writing definitely depict the beauty and sadness that comes with love. Thanks for sharing.
Until you said at the end of the post that it was a work of fiction I really thought this was a letter to a former spouse. Beautifully written x
Such an emotional piece well written as well.
Love the poem. Left me with a bit bitter sweet sense.
This is so well written. The way you said really just opened up a new way of thinking for me. Great work girl.
It’s always good to let go, and coffee helps an aching heart anyway. Ditch the boy, have the coffee, have fun and stay happy! Cheers!! 🙂
Such a heartfelt poem. I love that you’re taking part in the Write Tribe Festival of Words. Your writing is so creative!
There is always a good reason why someone meants to leave and stays. Those who stays are lucky.
Poetry is very close to me and every time I read a poem with such a beautiful flow, I feel reassured that poetry is still alive. 🙂
