As promised, I am back with recommendations for children’s books. We introduced books to our little one when he was four months old. And that was one of the best decision of our parenthood. If you still haven’t started reading to your baby, here is why you should start now !!
Babies cannot see beyond a few inches, so the best way to make them read is to snuggle them and read . Also, they do not have a long attention span, so books with pictures and short texts makes reading fun at this age.
Children’s Books for the age 0 – 6 months
The best books for babies would be the ones which have high contrast images and different patterns. These kind of books definitely interests babies. There are many touch and feel play books which have pictures with various textures. These help the babies in discover different textures. Second category of books which I would recommend are the cloth books. Cloth books are very easy to maintain and have a longer life than cardboard to paper books. They are light in weight and ideal for the babies.
NB : The following are the books that we own and introduced in the early days. These are just recommendations based on what we have.
I admire Eric Carle. He has published some brilliant children’s books. This one is a simple playbook with beautiful illustrations and also has different textures on the pictures.
This one is a must have book for the babies. The flaps make the reading interesting and fun. The second book in this series Baby Touch: Playbook is a good one too. I would recommend buying these two together.
